In an exclusive 7NEWS interview, the 31-year-old has asked for forgiveness after 12 local government areas in Tasmania were slapped with stay-at-home orders.
“I would like to say how terribly sorry I am to the state of Tasmania for the trouble I have caused,” Gunn said.

“I did not do this on purpose. It definitely wasn’t an act of selfishness or carelessness.
“I would hope that sometime soon Tasmania could find it in their heart to forgive me.”

It’s alleged Gunn flew from NSW to Hobart via Melbourne on Monday 11, without a valid border pass.
He then allegedly escaped hotel quarantine and tested positive for COVID before visiting a number of sites in Hobart, including a Woolworths.

Public Health claimed Gunn was uncooperative throughout its investigation, as his close contact list grew to over 150 people.
The state’s Premier Peter Gutwein has called for Tasmania Police to “consider all avenues” for action against Gunn.
“We should throw the book at people that flout our rules and send a very strong signal that this is just simply not on,” he said.
“This is a breach that has brought southern Tasmania to a standstill.”

However, in the interview Tim Gunn was adamant he did not intend to breach public health orders.
“I did not plan for this to happen,” he said.
“I’m not that type of guy that would just go galavanting around, I’ve got total remorse.
“I’m not that type of guy that would just go galivanting around, I’ve got total remorse.”
“I rang Public Health and told them everything and I produced a negative test before I left, and they said I did everything right and that I didn’t need to quarantine.
“I didn’t escape or anything like that I just simply walked out.”

The news of the snap lockdown sparked a wave of panic buying on Friday afternoon at supermarkets in the south.
The southern region of Tasmania came out of lockdown on Monday night after three days, but residents are still facing some restrictions.
On the back of tough border measures, the state has recorded just three COVID cases this year.
